    Replacement Hook

Posted by Josh on Oct 18th 2025

Works perfectly! My old hooks were starting to wear out, and actually came loose, letting the bikes roll around on the rack. The new ones are right with good engagement. Rhino Rack customer service on the other hand isn't so great. Took nearly a month to get my shipment. Waited one week and no shipment confirmation. Called customer service and they said they would ship out first of the following week- never happened. Finally shipped out the following week after sending another email basically begging for the parts for an upcoming trip.

    Excellent Customer Service

I have thoroughly enjoyed my West slope rack that has stood up well over heavy use (maybe 9,000+ miles) of several years. I was elated to learn that Rocky Mounts offers replacement parts for such things as the hook and trigger - which very understandably wore given how much use I exposed the original parts to. Thank you, Rocky Mounts!

Evrything Wears Out Eventually - BUT!!

Posted by Dave Black on Apr 16th 2024

Ipicked up a Westslope with RM's first offering, and haven't looked back. Easy to use. Secure. And with the ramped design - keeps your protected when you back into a ditch! But after a few years - I began to have issues with the front wheels dropping out of the trays. Traced the problem to the trigger wearing where it engages the load bar's ratchet teeth. Not a problem I'm a realist & figured that I'd rather replace the hook, than the load bar. And folks..., $25 for a new one is pennies in the long haul. I ordered a couple, and it true Rocky Mounts fashion, they were on my doorstep in just a couple of days. 5 minutes to get them on the loas bars, and has been secure riding, since. To make these last longer than the THREE YEARS the old ones did - I no longer slide the hook without holding the trigger depressed, so the system doesn't "ratchet" against the bar's notches. I love this rack. It's lived on the back of the car full-time here in the Ohreegone Coast Range rain forest - with no garage in sight - and is holding up WAY better than expected. You can. Betchyer booty, the next rack for me (in another 10), will be aNother RM product. STEEL IS REAL!!
