No matter if you have a truck, SUV or camper van, this rack is perfect for those who need open access to the back end of their vehicle. Based around the MonoRail platform, the BackStage provides full access to the back of the vehicle, even with bikes loaded.

  • Carries 2 bikes, up to 60 lbs per tray (120 lbs total). Not compatible with Add-On
  • No contact with frame, secures bicycle by front wheel
  • Carries road tires up to 5.0” fat bike tires, and diameters from 20” to 29”
  • Compatible with bicycle wheelbases from 36” to 50”
  • Folds flat against the vehicle and tilts down 30 degrees to allow for hatch access

BackStage Swing Away Platform Hitch Rack is RAD!

Posted by Ryan S. on Jan 4th 2018

This rack is great, the quality is top notch, and its easy to assemble. I got it mainly for its swing-away tray feature. I like to camp in the back of my truck, and was getting frustrated with another tray rack always getting in the way of access to the truck bed. With this rack I can keep both of my bikes on the rack and swing out of the way for super convenient access to the back. I've even carried a 40lb E-bike and a fully loaded bike touring bike on the rack at the same time! It held great, no worries. The tilt feature is also super fast and easy to use. The only negative I can say is about the bike lock. The lock works perfectly well, but being that it is only a cable with a loop, I'm concerned about its security. It's also kind of a pain to stow the lock on the rack when not in use. I would have preferred a hide-away style lock, or even better a lock built into the telescoping arms. I would highly recommend this rack for anyone looking for a 2 bike tray style rack with a swing away feature.

    Too Early to tell

Posted by Tracy H. on Jan 4th 2018

Can really say. It was so hard to get the rack that I missed the entire biking season here in Montana just waiting for it to ship. When it finally showed up I actually had forgotten about it. I used it one time and it seemed fine. Trace

Perfect Bike rack for a Sprinter!

Posted by Matt Smith on Dec 30th 2017

I have this rack on my Sprinter Conversion and it works perfectly. I'm able to open both doors when it is in the extended position. https://www.instagram.com/azamatsmith/

    Love it so far

Posted by Anonymous on Nov 25th 2017

I have not used the rack too much yet, but when I have, I have loved it. I didn't get it until the end of the season. It is very convenient. Without bikes, easy to drop down to open the hatch on my Subaru. With bikes I can still get into the back by just swinging the hinge out. I am small, but still easy to do. I had a hinged rack on my old rack (not a platform), but my tri bike would't fit on it, so was so glad they came out with a platform rack that hinges.

    A great carrier

Posted by Anonymous on Nov 24th 2017

It is easy to use. Heavy but once it is mounted on the car, very easy to use. Expensive compared to other hitch carriers, but it works great for those vehicles that you need to get to the back doors.

    nice rack. solid build

Posted by chris on Nov 6th 2017

Ignore the person who gave this rack one star, if you read all the other reviews you will see its bogus. The rack is super solid. Perfect rack for people who need access to the back of their truck. zero play in the rack when its all tightened. I researched other racks that were from competitors and I'm glad i went with rockymounts.

    Swing away bike rack

Posted by James H. on Nov 5th 2017

I was very disappointed with it. Very heavy and cheaply made. Good idea poorly executed. I’m a metal fabricator and welder by trade so I know what I’m looking at. On top of that it was 2 months late getting to me. You don’t have to worry about these comments I will never buy another product of yours. You got my money so I know you don’t care.

    Liking This Rack

Posted by Lee Mayer on Oct 17th 2017

I've used the rack about 4 times on DC's pothole ridden streets. The rack holds the bikes securely and it's quick and easy to load and unload. Living in the city I don't leave the rack on when it's not in use. You should know that it is very heavy but that's tone expected given its multiple "arms". The installation instructions and diagrams are horrible so give yourself at least 2 hours to figure out how to put the many parts together. I wish there was a way to secure the bikes to the rack with a U lock. With thousands of dollars worth of bikes on the rack, a cable lock is not sufficient.
